Anatomical Positions And Directions Flashcards
Where is the midline?
Through the centre of the body from all directions
What direction is distal?
Downwards or lower in the body/region
What direction is proximal?
Upwards or higher in the body/region
What direction is medial?
Towards the midline/centre of the body
What direction is lateral?
Away from the midline or the centre of the body
What is superior
Superior is is a birds eye view downwards on the body
What is inferior
Inferior is a reversed birds eye view so upward from the toes of the body
What is Anterior
It’s the forward direction from the midline
What is posterior
It is backward from the midline
What is the anatomical position
Facing storage ahead, forward facing, palms open
What is the fundamental position
From the side view, upright and palms are facing in direction of the body
