Q

What are pigments?

A

17
Q

How does ATP and ADP release energy?

A

When the last covalent bond between phosphate is broken

18
Q

How does ATP and ADP stores energy?

A

By reattaching a free phosphate molecule to ADP, turning back to ATP

19
Q

Equation of Cellular Respiration

A

C6H12O6+6O2 → 6CO2 +6H2O + ATP energy

20
Q

What are the factors that affect Photosynthesis?

A

Light Intensity:
- The amount
- Brightness
- Color (only certain wavelengths)
Water
- A shortage of water slow down the growth of plants
Temperature
- Can cause the reaction to slow down caused of different temps

21
Q

How do ADP and ATP molecules capture energy?

A

ADP captures energy when adding an extra phosphate group adds more energy into ADP. But when ATP’s phosphate group breaks away, its losing energy

22
Q

How do electrons flow during photosynthesis?

A

Electrons are transferred between the two photosystems, with photosystem I acting to generate NADPH and photosystem II acting to generate ATP

23
Q

What is photosytem II?

A

Photosystem II uses sunlight to split H2O molecules into H+, O2, and e-. Most of the O2 diffuses into the air. The electrons enter the electron transport chain

sunlight gets absorbed to collect electrons. all electrons gather and help NADPH and H+ to make NADPH

24
Q

What is Photosystem I?

A

Uses the sunlight energy, energy-depleted electrons are re-energized. The energized electrons are used to produce NADPH a molecule that will later be used to make glucose.

sunlight gets absorbed by pigments and coverts it into electrons and then H2O splits into H+ and O2 and electrons

25
Q

What is ATP Synthesis?

A

The high H+ iion concentration in the inner thylakoid space creates a concentration gradient. H+ ions diffuse back into the stroma through a membrane protein, ATP Synthesis. The energy released by the flow of H+ ions converts ADP to ATP.

26
Q

What is Electron Transport?

A

Energized electrons are shuttled from PSII across carrier molecules. The carrier molecules use the electrons energy to transport H+ ions from the stroma into the inner thylakoid space.
