Biology Term 1 Flashcards
Eukaryotic
Genetic materials inside nucleus (humans)
Prokaryotic
No nucleus (bacteria)
How many trypes of DNA does bacteria have?
2
Capsule
Enhances ability to cause disease
Mesosome
Increase surface area of plasma membrame
Plasmid DNA
Forms small loops and carries extra information
Flagellum
Enables cell to swim
Plasma Membrame
Protects cell
What does a bacteria cell contain?
Capsula, cell wall, plasma membrame, cytoplasm, flagellum mesosome, DNA, plasmid DNA, ribosomes
Sperm cell
Fertilisers an egg and has a flagellum
Nerve cell
Carries electrical impulses around the body, it has lots of dendrites to make connections to other nerve cells, and axon carries nerve impulses, the nerve endings pass impulses to another self
Muscle cell
They contract and relax and help make movement, special protein makes fibres contract by sliding over each other, mitochondria transfer energy, they can store glycogen
Root hair cell
Helps plants take up water, increase surface area, large permanent vacuole that speeds up movement of water by our samosas, mitochondria transfer energy
Xylem cell
Carries water and mineral ions to roots and leaves, starts alive and instead, build up spiral
What can an unspecialised cell do?
It can turn into different cells
