Q

What are the features of red blood cells?

A
  1. Has a biconcave shape, which gives a larger surface area to carry more oxygen
  2. Lots of hemoglobin which allows more oxygen to bond
  3. No nucleus allows it to have lots of hemoglobin

Q

what are the features of sperm cells?

A
  1. Have acrosome to break down outer layer of the egg. Acrosomes contain enzymes
  2. Have mitochondria which produce ATP for movement
  3. They are small and have a tail for movement

Q

What are the functions of Neutrophil? (White blood cell)

A
  1. Has a lobed nucleus so is flexible and can squeeze between cells in capillary walls
  2. Engulfs and destroys pathogens by phagocytosis
  3. Has many lysosomes with hydrolytic enzymes to digest the pathogens

Q

What are the functions of the egg cell?

A
  1. Large cytoplasm to provide nutrients to the growing embryo
  2. zona pellucida acts as protection to stop more than one sperm from entering
  3. Corona radiata is a protective layer which provides proteins to the cell
