Q

Explain the digestive system with detail

A

Mouth: Digestion starts here. The food gets chewed up mechanically with the help of saliva. Once it exits the mouth and enters it’s called bolus.
Esophagus: The bolus is moved through the esophagus using peristalsis until it reaches the stomach.
Stomach: it uses muscles and acids to turn the bolus into chyme which is then pushed through into the small intestine.
Small intestine: Using the help of the bile produced by the liver, the intestine moves the chyme through the intestine using peristalsis. This is where the first part of nutrient absorption begins.
Large intestine: When the chyme enters the large intestine, it starts to form the chyme into the poop shape that leaves the anus.
