Biology Flashcards
Ecology
The study of how living things interact with their environment and each other.
Habitats
The place where an organism lives in its habitat.
Population
A population is a group of organisms of the same species living in the same habitat.
Community
A community is all of the different populations that live in a habitat.
Ecosystem
An ecosystem is all the communities interacting with each other, and with their environment.
Balance of nature
The number and types of species in an ecosystem reaches a steady state over time.
Biome
A biome is an ecosystem that extends over a very large area.
Biosphere
A biosphere is all of the Earths ecosystems together form one large ecosystem.
Abiotic

Predation
Controls the number of organisms in an ecosystem.
Predator
