Biology Flashcards
cerebrum?
your conscious thoughts, smarts, actions, and messages to your body
medulla?
your vital body functions such as heartbeat, breathing, blood pressure
cerebellum?
your balance and coordination
metabolism?
its purpose is to make food into energy.it is the chemical reaction that takes place inside of the cell.
the endocrine system?
all of your hormones, a network of glands that make the hormones that help cells talk to each other.
temperature on urine production?
when we are old, we sweat less so our body is not loosing fluid through the skin, making us pee more.when we are hot, we sweat more loosing more fluid so we pee less.
motor nerves?
they carry messages from the Central nerve system to the effectors ( your muscles and glands)
sensory nerves?
carry messages from your cells in the sensery nerve to your brain and spinal cord.
itner neurons?
connect the spinal motor and sensory neurons
cell body?
contains the neucleus, which is the control centre of the ce
peripheral nerves?
peripheral nerves and curanial nerves
somatic?
your sensory nerves and coordinates movements
dendrite?
head of the cell.they branch out from each cell body and collect the mesages from other nerve cells.
axon terminal?
passes the message onto the next neuron
axon-?
sends nerve impulses away from the cell body.
