What are cells?
The smallest building block of an organism.
What is the respiratory system involved in?
Breathing in oxygen and breathing out carbon dioxide.
How many bones are in your body?
206 bones.
What are the 4 main functions of the skeletal system?
Supporting the body, Protecting the vital organs, helping the body move (movement), and making blood cells (in the bone marrow).
What are the different types of joints?
Hinge joints, ball and socket joints, and fixed joints.
How does a Hinge joint move?
Moves forwards and backward (e.g the knee).
How does the ball and socket move?
Moves in all directions (e.g the shoulders)
How does the fixed joint move?
No movement allowed (e.g the skull).
In a joint, what is the thing that protects the bones from rubbing together too tight?
Cartilage.
What is the thing that connects bone to bone?
Ligaments.
What are muscles attached to bones by?
Tendons.
What is the muscle called when they work together?
Antagonistic muscles (e.g bicep and triceps)
