Q

typical drugs-strength

explain the work of sampath on typical drugs 1992

A
  • swapped out clorpromazine for a placebo drug in half of his sample
  • 75% of the placebo grp relapsed a year later compared to 33% of the patiets who recieved the drug
  • this supports the effectiveness of drugs as is shows they can help reduce symptoms
  • the study is correlational so cannot infer causality

Q

typical/atypical weakness

why are side effects a weakness?

A
  • some patients on antipsychotics develop tardive dyskinsea- an uncontrollable facil tic disease
