Remains or traces of plants and animals that lived a long time ago.
Extinct
A living thing that is no longer found alive anywhere on earth today.

A scientist that studies fossils.
Herbivore
An animal that eats plants.
Carnivore
An animal that eats meat.

An animal that eats both plants and meat.

Any living thing.
Mold
A hollow fossil form clearly showing the outside features of an organisms.
Cast
formed or shaped within mold.

A fossil created by a print or impression.
Amber
Hardened tree sap, often a source or inset fossils.
Trace fossils
studying trace fossils, we can learn about animals lived.

an actual preserved body of an animal.
Environment condition
A change or disturbance of the environment most often caused by a human influences and natural ecological processes.
Erosion (takes it)
The process of carrying away rocks.
Weathering (breaks it)
A natural process the slowly breaks apart rock
gravity (drops it)
An invisible force that pulls objects toward each other.
