biogenetics Flashcards
equation for photosynthesis
carbon dioxide + water (light energy) - Oxygen + glucose
Where does photosynthesis occur ?
Photosynthesis takes place in the plants leaves.
Chlorophyll absorbs the light energy from the sun.
This light energy is turn into chemical energy, (using the equation for photosynthesis, carbon dioxide and water) and is stored in sugars. This creates glucose and a waste product (oxygen)
equation for aerobic respiration
oxygen + glucose - carbon dioxide + water
equation for anaerobic respiration
glucose - lactic acid
what is anaerobic respiration
anaerobic respiration is when your body is lacking oxygen so uses respiration without oxygen but with only glucose, creating lactic acid
when is anaerobic respiration used ?
It is only used in an emergency e.g. during exercise
equation for anaerobic respiration in plants and yeast
glucose - ethanol + carbon dioxide + energy
