Bioecological Systems Model Flashcards
What is the bio-ecological systems model?
A model developed by Uri Bronfenbrenner for understanding the reciprocal relationships between interacting systems that influence development and change.
What is the difference between Bronfenbrenner’s original ecological systems theory and his revised bio-ecological theory?
The difference between the earlier and more mature version of his theory is that he
integrates the individual and their agency, and emphasises the
connection/interaction between the components and systems
Microsystem
- individuals closest to the person
- involves direct, face-to-face influences
Mesosystem
Relationship/interaction between 2/> microsystems
Exosystem
Environments the individual isn’t involved in but which influence relationships the individual is involved in
Macrosystem
Dominant beliefs/attitudes/values/ideologies within systems of society
Chronosystem
Dimension of time and how it relates to
the interactions between systems and
their influences on individual
development (events that occur over
time)
