Q

What influences asexual and sexual reproduction?

A

Many organisms can reproduce sexually, as well as asexually.
Some factors that influence sexual reproduction, are, food sources have been depleted, the climate becomes hostile, and individual survival is jeopardized by some other adverse change in living conditions. Somethings that influence asexual reproduction are, when environmental factors are favorable.

Q

What is asexual reproduction?

A

Asexual reproduction is when all of the genes come from one parent, and it’s genetically identical offspring.

Q

What are the four types of asexual reproduction?

A

The four types of asexual reproduction are;
Budding- Is when the parent organism produces a smaller version of itself (bud). The bud eventually detaches from the parent and becomes an independent organism that is exactly the same as the parent.
Binary Fission- The cell splits in two and produces two identical offspring.
Spore Production-Spores are like seeds but are produced by one parent, the spore is identical to the parent.
Vegetative Reproduction- The reproduction of a plant that does not require a seed. It occurs in plants which new plant grows from fragments of the parent plant.

Q

What is sexual reproduction?

A

Sexual reproduction occurs when the genetic material of a sperm from a male, and egg from a female come together. Also known as fertilization, like what occurs in fish eggs when the female lays there eggs then the male fish sprinkles their sperm over it and fertilizes the eggs. Offspring from sexual reproduction, are not identical organisms.

Q

Sexual Reproduction in animals; What is the male gamete called? What is it called when the sperm cell penetrates the egg? What is the female gamete called? What is the cell created by the joining of two gametes called? When the zygote cells divide into two cells, what is that process called? What is it called when this cell division continues until a multicellular “blank” develops?

A

The male gamete is called the sperm. When the sperm cell penetrates the egg it’s called fertilization. The female gamete is called, ova and egg. The joining of two gametes is called a zygote. When the zygote cell divides it does a process called cleavage. This cell division continues until a multicellular embryo develops.

Q

Sexual Reproduction in plants; Where are the male gametes of a plant in? Where are the female gametes of a plant found in?

A

The male gamete of a plant are inside the pollen, which is found in the stamen. The female gametes of a plant are found in the ovules which are found in the pistil.
