Q

How is biodiversity measured? What is the calculation?

A
By using the index of diversity:
D= N(N-1)
     ━━━
     Σn(n-1)
N=Total number of all species
n= Total number of one species
Σ= Sum of

Q

What agricultural practices reduce biodiversity?

A

➣Woodland clearance= reduces habitats, food and species, resulting in death/migration
➣Hedgerow removal= reduces as above
➣Pesticides= reduces food sources by killing pests
➣Herbicides= reduces weed as a food source & plant diversity
➣Monoculture= one type of plant reduces biodiversity directly, supports fewer organisms

Q

What are conservation schemes?
