Angular stomatitis

What can vitamin B3 (Nicotinamide) deficiency cause?
Pellagra (dementia, diarrhoea, dermatitis)
What can vitamin B6 deficiency cause?
Seborrhoeic dermatitis Atrophic glossitis Confusion Neuropathy Sideroblastic anaemia
What can zinc deficiency cause?
Inadequate intake –> parenteral feeding
Increased loss –> diarrhoea
When and why is a calprotectin test performed?
When a patient has bloody or watery diarrhoea, abdominal cramps, with or without fever, lasting more than a few days.
Detect intestinal inflammation.
Distinguish between IBD and non-inflammatory bowel conditions.
Also monitors IBD.
