Bio module 2 topic 1: The History of Life Flashcards
trace fossils
geological records of the activities and behaviors of past life. a fossil of a footprint, trail, burrow, or other trace of an animal rather than of the animal itself
replacement fossils
when the original shell or bone dissolves away and is replaced by a different mineral
superposition

protist

Mesozoic Era
means ‘middle life’ and this is the time of the dinosaurs.
Cenozoic Era
beginning about 66 million years ago and extending to the present.
Precambrian Era

Paleozoic Era
began 541 million years ago with the Cambrian explosion, an extraordinary diversification of marine animals, and ended about 252 million years ago
