binary fission Flashcards
binary fission stages
DNA replication, attachment, cell elongation, Z-ring formation, constriction, septum formation, cytokenesis
dna replication
replication begins at origin of replication
helicase, primase and DNA polymerase ||| come together to form replisome. replication then proceeds in both directions toward terminus
attachment
chromosomes attaches to cell membrane
cell elongation
cell grows in length as new cell wall material is laid down
Z-ring formation
Z-ring forms in cell centre
constriction
Z-Ring constricts and pulls in cell membrane and wall
cytokinesis
cell wall degrading enzymes
digest the centre of the cell wall dividing septum resulting in two seperate cells
septum formation
new cell wall forms along middle of cell
