How does biliary colic present?

A
  • Severe pain in RUQ
  • radiation to the right shoulder and back
  • worse after eating and worse after eating fatty foods

How do you investigate gallstone

A
  • bloods: FBC, U&E,Amalayse. CRP, clotting
  • Ultrasound scan: dilated duct, wall oedema and stones
  • if dilated ducts seen do MRCP

How should we manage gallstones

A
  • conservatively managed mostly - with analgesia and lots of fluids (NBM just in case need to go to theatre)
  • cholecystectomy: definite management
