Executive Branch: enforces the law
Article III
Judicial Branch: applies/interprets the laws

All states are treated equal; each state gives citizens of other states the same rights

Article VI
Supremacy Clause = US Constitution is highest law of the land and states cannot override federal law
Article VII
Ratification of Constitution required 9 of 13 states

Freedom of religion, speech, press and assembly

Right to bear arms

You don’t have to harbor troops against your will

Outlaws unreasonable search and seizure

Double-jeopardy; self-incrimination; police have to tell you what crime you have committed before charging you

Jury Trial - trial by a group of your peers

No cruel and unusual punishment

people have basic rights that cannot be taken away

powers not given to federal government are retained by the states and people

President and Vice President must run together but be voted by electors separately

Abolished slavery and declared slaves free
