Biliary Stone Management Flashcards
The _ balloon is designed to work with our RX biliary system whereas the _ balloon is designed to offer long-wire users additional device options for retrieval.
Extractor Pro RX Retrieval Balloon; Extractor Pro XL Retrieval Balloon
Each Extrator balloon can be inflated to how many distinct diameters?
Two
What is the difference between the Extractor Pro RX-S Retrieval Balloon Catheter and the Extractor Pro RX Retrieval Balloon Catheter?
The Extractor Pro RX-S Retrieval Balloon Catheter has all of the features and intended benefits of the Extractor Pro RX Retrieval Balloon Catheter but with the addition of a pre-loaded stiffening stylet.
What is DASE?
Dilatation Assisted Stone Extraction
Which CRE dilatation balloon catheter is indicated for the DASE procedure?
CRE PRO Wireguided Balloon Dilatation Catheter & CRE RX Biliary Balloon Dilatation Catheter
Is SpyGlass retrieval basket indicated for impact stones?
SpyGlass™ Retrieval Basket is not indicated for use with impacted stones. To avoid basket impaction, use fluoroscopy and direct visualization to determine the size of the stone or foreign body. Do not use basket if stone or foreign body cannot be removed endoscopically or held in the basket.
Is SpyGlass retrieval basket indicated for lithotripsy?
SpyGlass Retrieval Basket is not indicated for lithotripsy. In the unlikely event the basket becomes impacted, use wire cutting pliers to cut the sheath below the distal end of the handle to remove the SpyScope™ and Duodenoscope from the device. SpyScope and EHL/Laser can then be used to fragment the captured stone and free the impacted basket.
Is SpyGlass retrieval basket indicated for the removal of metal stents?
SpyGlass Retrieval Basket is not indicated for removal of metal stents.
What is SpyGlass retieval basket indicated for?
The SpyGlass™ Retrieval Basket can be used to capture and remove residual biliary and pancreatic stones and stone fragments visualized with the SpyGlass DS System.
Intended use/indications for use
* Stones
* Stone fragments
* Foreign bodies
What are the two types of Lithotripsy?
Electrohydraulic lithotripsy (EHL)
Laser lithotripsy
Can you use sterile water with EHL? Why?
No, it is not effective. Saline is needed in the duct as you energize the EHL probe.
EHL uses a probe containing two electrodes separated by an area of insulation. While electric current is passed between two electrodes, a spark is created which vaporizes the saline at the end of the probe. This spark gap creates a cavitation bubble, which rapidly expands and creates a shock wave that collapses and releases energy – resulting in stone fragmentation.
Which has a higher cost of capital? Laser or EHL?
Laser
What is the name of our EHL system?
BSC and Northgate Technologies have a co-exclusive agreement to distribute the Autolith Touch System and EHL accessories.
Can SpyGlass be used with the Lumenis laser offererings?
SpyGlass DS System can be used with the Lumenis laser offerings.
