What is Pancreatic Fluid Collection?

A

PCFs are a frequent complication of pancreatitis
They can be seen following:
* An attack of acute pancreatitis
* In patients with chronic pancreatitis
* Patients who have suffered blunt or penetrating trauma to the pancreas
These injuries to the pancreas can cause ductal disruption leading to an abnormal collection of fluid within or around the pancreas.
