-Instruments/musicians/pieces/sciences/etc. in music
-Inclusion of jazz, pop, world in newer editions
RELEVANCE/CURRENCY
• Later editions close to “comprehensive.”
-Oxford online is much more comprehensive/updated
ORGANIZATION
-Alphabetical
-Online database filters, no org. by topic

- Older editions biased towards English music/musicians
- Older editions don’t include music sciences
- Constantly updating to be relevant/modern
RILM (Repertoire International de Literature Musical)
-Includes many forms of media, i.e. books, articles, audio recordings, dissertations
JSTOR (Journal Storage)
- Heavy focus on journal articles from scholarly journals
- American journals appear towards top of search
- Possible medium for promotion of publishing companies.

- Database of complete published books (not chapters)
- Some book reviews
- Connection between publishers and libraries (promotion)
IIMP (Int. Index to Music Periodicals)
- More comprehensive inclusion of multiple sources
- Periodicals/magazines/journal articles and more
- Wider database that does not include full length books, draws upon many non-scholarly magazines, etc.
