Pentateuch
These books talk about the formation of the covenant and describe the basic laws and beliefs of the Israelites. The books are Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy.
Historical Books
These books deal with the history of Israel. They are Joshua, Judges, Ruth, 1 Samuel, 2 Samuel, 1 Kings, 2 Kings, 1 Chronicles,2 Chronicles, Ezra, Judith, Tobit, Nehemiah, Ester, 1 Maccabees, 2 Maccabees.
Wisdom Books
These books explain God’s role in everyday lives. The books are Job, Psalms, Song of Songs, Sirach, and Wisdom.
Prophetic Books
These books contain writing of the great prophets who spoke God’s Word to the people of Israel. The books are Isaiah, Amos, Jeremiah, Baruch, Daniel, Hosea, Joel, Jonah, Micah, Nahum, Haggai, Malachi, Habakkuk, Zephaniah, Daniel, Ezekiel, Lamentations, Obadiah, Zephaniah, and Zechariah.
Gospels.
These books contain the message and key events in Jesus Christ’s life. The Gospels hold a central place in the Bible. The Books are Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.
Other Writings
The books are Acts of the Apostles and Revelation
Letters
These books contain letters written by Saint Paul and other leaders to individual Christians or to the communities. Romans, 1 + 2 Corinthians, Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, 1 + 2 Thessalonians, 1 + 2 Timothy, Titus, Hebrews, James, Philemon, 1 + 2 Peter, 1-3 John and Jude.
