Midazolam (Versed)
A
-Adult Premedication Dose: 1-2 mg IV
-Adult Induction (rare): 0.1-0.2 mg/kg (then give opiate)
* Onset: 1-2 minutes
* Duration: 1 hour (dependent on hepatic clearance rate)
* o C/I: Long-term use in pregnant d/t placental crossing; don’t give to patients > 65 y/o
* Precautions: Caution with meds that inhibit CYP: cimetidine, erythromycin, CCBs, antifungal, fentanyl, phenytoin.
