Q

Structure of benzene

A
  • Benzene is found way a stable molecule for stuff it is it forms a triozoide. Indicates the presence of three double bonds
  • each carbon atom undergoes sp2 hybridisation, the sp2 hybrid orbit also overlap with each other to form 6C single bond sigma bond.
  • The S orbitals of hydrogen overlap with the SP2 hybrid orbitals of carbon to form CH sigma bond.
  • at each carbon atom, there is an unhybridised P orbital which all absolutely deform 3 pi bond.

Q

Necessary condition for a molecule to be aromatic

A
  • the molecule should be cyclic.
  • It should be planar.
  • Complete delocalization of Pi Electron in the ring.
  • Presence of (4N +2) pi electron in the ring where N is an integer this rule is known as Huckel’s rule.

carcinogenity

A

Benzene and polynuclear hydrocarbons
containing more than two benzene rings
fused together are toxic and said to
possess cancer producing (carcinogenic)
property
