narrowing of the passage way of the stenosis

cause of cervical stenosis
A
- iatrogenic , caused by :
- increased use of cone bipsy/endometrial ablation devices can cause internal os of the cervix to be ablated.

assoc symptoms of cervical stenosis
A
- cyclic dysmenorrhea- blood collected within uterus is unable to be released through the cervix

treatment for cervical stenosis
A
- surgical dilatation of the cervix which can be carried out under local anaesthetic

cervical ectropion
A
- benign condition where columnar epithelium is found in the vaginal part of the cervic where the non keratinised stratified squamous epithelium should be

A

- Puberty
- Pill
- Pregnancy

investigation of cervical ectropion
A
- Infection screen/swab to exclude chlamydia and STI
- Cervical smear - persistent cervical ectropion tissue is more susceptile to undergo metaplasia to squamous epithelium and then become malignant
- -> CAUSED BY HPV INFECTION - nabothian cysts - mucus filled cysts on the surface of the cervix, visible on the ectocervix.
