Benefits of Cloud Flashcards
List the benefits of Cloud
Cost saving, Global reach, Availability, Scalability, Elasticity, Agility, Disaster Recovery
Cost saving in Cloud are …
Running a server on premises than running on Azure is much cheaper because of cheaper costs in electricity, internet, cooling, employees. Pricing calculators – Total Cost of ownership type calculators. 4 vCPU server for 200$ month.
It’s possible to turn off and grow at any moment when needed
Global reach in cloud …
The cloud allows to expand the application deployments to different regions of the world with speed improvements.
Availability in cloud …
Percentage of the time that a systems is up and able to do its work (99,99% - 4 min per month of downtime). High availability can be achieved by proper planning and a cost.
Scalability in cloud …
Ability to handle growth. Almost every system as a maximum capacity and scalability it’s the ability to move that capacity up.
Elasticity in cloud …
The ability to grow and shrink automatically. Add capacity, pay for it, than remove capacity and save money because its not needed to add a high capacity all the time.
Agility in cloud …
Ability to change the cloud computing setup based on changes to the market or environment. Like adding more servers in some times.
Disaster Recovery in cloud …
Get a copy of your environment running in another region automatically when a disaster appends (out of power for example) and doing backups every x minutes.
Describe Capital Expenditure (CapEx) and Operational Expenditure (OpEx)
CapEx – is money invested in assets, like computers, that return investment over time.
OpEx – is money spent every day on operating expenses. Not a capital investment, the bills come every month and are paid every month.
Consumption-based model is?
When you buy a server you have the cost of electricity, internet, but not paying for CPU cycles or for data travelling across a network. Moving to the OpEx model you’re paying per minute, hour or execution like data, GB, basically what you consume.
