Benchmark two review Flashcards
What is amplitude?
Amplitude is the maximum distance the medium vibrates from it’s rest position.
What is speed?
Speed is how far a wave travels in a given amount of time.
What is rarefaction?
Rarefaction is the bending of waves as they enter a medium at a new angle.
What is reflection?
Reflection is the bouncing back of a wave when it hits an object it CANNOT pass through.
What is diffraction?
Diffraction is the bending or spreading of waves as they move around a barrier.
What is interference?
Interference is the interaction between waves that meet.
What is frequency?
Frequency is the number of waves that pass a given point in a certain amount of time.
What is wavelength?
Wavelengths is the distance between two corresponding point on adjacent waves.
Sally is pushing a box down and Susie is pulling it down. Sally has a force of 3N and Susie has a force of 5N. What is the net force.?
The net force is 8N. It is because they are going the same direction you would add the two.
Susie is pushing the box to her left and Sally is pushing the box to her right. Susie has a force of 7N and Sally has a force of 8N. What is the net force?
The net force is 1N. It is this because they are going the opposite direction you are going to subtract.
What is the formula for force?
The formula for force is Mass x Acceleration =Force.
What is the formula for Mass?
The formula for Mass is Force / Acceleration =Mass
What is the formula for acceleration?
The formula for acceleration is Force / Mass =Acceleration.
What happens when kinetic energy decreases?
What happens is potential energy increases and vice versa.
