Why did Jefferson purchase the Louisiana territory?
It doubled the size of the country and it gave us access to the Mississippi River for trade and also give us access to New Orleans

He believed in a strict interpretation of the constitution but had to change that view because he went against congress to make the purchase

What was the Monroe doctrine?
Saying that other countries needed to stay out of the business of our half of the world

Not much of an impact, the United States was not strong enough to enforce the doctrine
Describe the Missouri compromise.
The debate over whether or not Missouri would be entered as a free or slave state. This compromise also established the Mason Dixon

It was a big state and it would disrupt the balance in congress and House of Representatives

The north had more access to money to build the factories and better access to the other resources needed to run business
