Bench top Auto Analysers Flashcards
List 3 types of auto analysers
- Haematology
- Biochemistry enzyme assay
- Biochemistry electrolyte assay
What is quality assurance
the maintenance of a desired level of quality in a service or product, especially by means of attention to every stage of the process of delivery or production.
What is Quality Control
a system of maintaining standards in manufactured products by testing a sample of the output against the specification.
What is comparative testing
testing performed in house and at a lab to determine if in house is meeting the high standards that is should
When should a quality control test be done?
gold standard = every day prior to any testing
What is mean, variance, & standard deviation
Mean = The average result
Variance & standard deviation = Measures of spread of the results variance is the standard deviation squared. the standard deviation is a formula for assessing the central trend of the spread of the results in a manner that reduces the skewing of evaluation of normal results due to outliers
What are the reagents used in QC tests and what precautions are required when handling and disposal?
QC is prepared from human serum and non human enzymes and non protein constituents added. CAUTION: human serum used so cautions as they may have hepatitis B or HIV
What are the requirements for storage of the source QC material and the reconstituted material?
- Refrigerate 2-8c sample until you are ready to test
How stable is it before and after preparation
if stored correctly the product will remain stable until the expiry date.
after reconstitution the levels of constituents remain relatively stable for up to 10 days when stored in the fridge.
How long do you warm samples before mixing, and what DONT you do to mix samples
- let it sit at room temp for 30 minutes, then mix using several gentle inversions DO NOT shake
What results show your tests are running accurately for the haematology analyser
The results should fall within the expected ranges
