A
  • lower motor neuron facial nerve palsy - forehead affected
  • post-auricular pain
  • altered taste
  • dry eyes
  • hyperacusis

in contrast - upper motor neuron lesions ‘spares’ the forehead

  • oral prednisolone within 72 hours of onset
  • prescription of artificial tears and eye lubricants
