As people use these bins more it means less waste is going to landfill sites.

Belfast city council are trying to set up mechanical biological treatment plant that would sort black bin waste to energy pellets.

It will cost between 200 and 500 million to build and operate 2 facilities.

They will process 400,000 tonnes of waste each year
