strong a/w HLA-B51 (B for behcet’s and 5 is almost like S)

Clinical features of Behcet’s disease:
A
- recurrent oral ulcerations (aphthous stomatitis=first and most common sign)
- recurrent genital ulceration
- Ocular lesions (conjunctivitis, iridocyclitis, retinal vasculitis→can lead to blindness)
- facial/acral papulopustules
- EN-like lesions on leg

A
neutrophilic infiltrate around vessels w/ leukocytoclastic vasculitis

Treatment of Behcet’s disease:
A
colchicine, dapsone are the go to’s
- also thalidomide, MTX, TNFai, azathioprine
- treat oral ulcers with high potency TCS and topical antimicrobials
- also magic mouthwash for pain
- treat genital ulcers with low potency TCS and TCI’s
- MUST TREAT systemically because this can affect all organs
