That we are born neutral with no inherent personality and that the environment shapes who you are.

Behaviour is a learned response from environmental stimuli.

Behaviour can be learned from observation and imitation.
What are some weaknesses of the Behaviourist Approach?
It’s reductionist.
It’s over-reliant on animal research.
It doesn’t allow for free will and advocates determinism.

Learning through reinforcement/punishment.
What does positive mean in terms of conditioning?
Gaining something.
What does negative mean in terms of conditioning?
Removing something.
What does reinforcement do?
Increase behaviour.
What does punishment do?
Decrease behaviour.
What is motivation?
The experience of wanting (to avoid) something.
What does it mean to be motivated extrensically?
To be motivated by rewards to progress socially.
What does it mean to be motivated intrinsically?
To be motivated by curiosity and the desire to explore things in themselves despite others’ opinions or rewards.
What is classical conditioning?
Learning by a stimulus.
What does SLT stand for?
