What is Mc Gregors theory x and theory y?
When you are a leader or in a management role, you will either choose theory x or theory y. Always choose theory y approach to management.
Theory x: assume your employees are irresponsible, not independent, boss micro manages you.
Theory y (every manager should do this): manger believes employees are self motivated and capable, gives space to learn, and open to questions/help but it is their choice.
He thinks this because the way you are treated is the way someone will perform.
What is the problem with Mc Gregors theory?
They want you to make that assumption without knowing the person and their needs. Everyone is different, some may like theory y however others may need theory x.
