Behaviorism Flashcards
What is the behaviorist approach for how we learn behavior’s?
Classical conditioning - stimulus - Response association UCS,UCR,NS,CS,CR
Describe Classical conditioning using Pavlov’s Dogs experiment.
UCS - food, UCR - Salivation, NS - Bell
After conditioning: Bell rung with food
CS - Bell, CR - Salvation
Describe Operant conditioning
Positive reinforcement - Satisfaction - desired response repeated
Negative Reinforcement - removal of unpleasant experience - desired response being repeated
punishment
Describe Skinners Rate Experiment
Skinner’s rate experiment Rat learned that pressing the level would result in food (a reward)
Therefore, continued to display this new learned behaviour
How do behaviourist conduct experiments?
Experiments in controlled conditions + Real world application
What is a study in behaviourism that’s deemed unethical?
Animal studies
