Bear Down Flashcards
Open the front angle of your pelvis and kneel more
Which spreads your weight along the length of your thigh instead of concentrating it in the middle of the horses back
Pull your pelvis up and forward, as in limbo dancing
And thus pull the horses back up with you
Bear down so strongly that
You generate a push forward that is stronger than the horse’s push back
The push of your bear down
Pushes your horse’s head and neck away from you and when your push overcomes his, he will join you by reaching his neck forward into the seeking reflexes
Create contact for the horses to reach into-think of the lower arm and rein
Forming the walls of a corridor that you channel the horse down
Keep the inner thighs rotated in and weight bearing
While the hands maintain the corridor
Bear down
Like you are having a baby
Open your hip angle and imagine strands of chewing gum
From the saddle to your underneath and pull the saddle and your horse’s back up with each rise
