Beam Modifers Flashcards
1
Q
What do wedges do
A
To compensate for a sloping surface/missing tissue
To manipulate isodose lines due to beam arrangement
- 90* angle
- heel and toe
2
Q
Wedge angle
A
The angle between the isodose curve and a line perpendicular to the central axis
Wedge angle decreases with increase in depth
Defined at reference depth of 10cm
3
Q
Wedge pair
A
Two beams placed at an angle (less than 180)
4
Q
Wedge transmission factor
A
Is using an uncorrected isodose chart do not need to use wedge factor
5
Q
What are the types of compensating filters
A
Manual
Electronic
- MLC
- poor mans IMRT
