BCBA Exam Flashcards
ABA
Scientific approach for discovering environmental variables that reliably influence socially significant behavior and for developing a technology of behavior change that takes practical advantage of those discoveries.
Analytic
It means that everything we do and every intervention we use has years of data, research, and evidence behind it, proving objectively that it is effective in making the changes we want to see. While there may be some trial-and-error when finding out which data-driven intervention works best for your child, nothing is ever subjective or made up on the spot.
Antecedent
An environmental condition or stimulus change existing or occurring prior to a behavior of interest.
Applied
We focus on behaviors that are socially significant to the individual and their life. We target behaviors that matter to them and that will affect their lives in a positive way.
Behavior
That portion of an organism’s interaction with its environment that involves movement of some part of the organism.
Behavioral
We only target behaviors that can be seen and measured

Conceptually Systematic
One of the dimensions of applied behavior analysis
Procedures for changing behaviors and any interpretations of how or why those procedures were effective should be described in terms of the relevant principle (s) from which they are derived.
