Context

-The soldiers realisation in the poem of the pointlessness of war mirrors the shift in the public mood during the war
Structure
three stanzas, encompassing a short moment in time for the soldiers but uses enjambment and caesura to mirror the panic and chaos he experiences and the chaotic nature of war.
