Lexington and Concord
The battle of Lexington and Concord marked the beginning of the Revolutionary War. The British tried to invade Concord, Massachusetts. Paul Revere warned the colonists of their plans, so when the British troops arrived the colonists were ready for battle. Although some of the colonists supplies were lost they still won the battle.
Bunker Hill
The Battle of Bunker Hill was the first major battle of the war. The British occupied Boston at the time and the colonist went on Bunker Hill to get a better view. They then came down the hill and attacked the British. This battle showed the shear toughness of the colonists troops.
Battle of Saratoga
This battle was known as the turning point in the war. Burgoyne, a british leader, led an assault on American troops. The british won but they lost many supplies and men and had to retreat.
Valley Forge
The colonists set up camp in Valley Forge to survive the winter. It was harsh and many men died. A german leader came and trained them, also George Washington lightened their spirits and helped them through hard times. This winter made the colonists even stronger.
Battle of Yorktown
This was the last major battle of the war. French troops came and helped the American troops win the war. George Washington and his troops surrounded the British in yorktown. The French blocked off sea escape routes. The British surrendered.
