What is something you have to remember before you handle batteries?
Remove any metal personal items.
When working around Batteries in warm and humid weather conditions, what is a precaution that you should take?
Take breaks, the PPE could cause a increase in the core body temperature, which could result in heat exhaustion or heat stroke
Name the PPE that should be worn when handling batteries?
Hard Hat, Acid-resistant Aprons and Gloves, Safety Boots, Safety Glasses and a Face Shield.
What should you look for when doing a battery inspection?
cracks, dents, lumps or swelling, leaks, and acid residue.
How much can a batteries weigh?
45 to 65 Lbs
How should you NOT carry batteries?
By the cheap plastic handles. The tabs for the handles break easily.
What stretches should you do before lifting a heavy load such as a battery?
Neck rotation, Arm Strech, Side bends, Back stretch
What should you check prior to transporting batteries?
Secure batteries to prevent any movement, Cover Battery terminals, Secure Propane tanks and aerosol cans in compartment separate from the batteries, secure all tools and materials surrounding the batteries, ensure battery terminal cannot become shorted against the vehicles side wall
How often is a battery inventory report done?
Monthly
What are the battery storage guidelines?
Store batteries in a cool, dry and well-ventilated space, Keep new batteries in their shipping container until ready for use, Racks and trays must be sturdy and treated to be resistant to electrolytes, Floors must be treated to resist acid absorption, Store batteries away from metallic objects, Do not store batteries near any flammable or explosive materials, Store batteries away from objects that could fall and cause damage, DO NOT stack a pallet on top of another pallet, DO NOT stack more than five High
