Q

How does an oxbow lake form?

A

The outside of the bend erodes away. Then more erosion occurs making the neck tighter. Eventually the neck breaks cutting off the meander. Finally an oxbow lake occurs cutting off from the river 💬

Q

Interlocking spurs

A

They are formed as the river takes the least resistant route down the hillside. Taking the advantage of any weaknesses I’m a rock

Q

How does a waterfall/gorgesform?

A

The soft rock underneath the hard rock gets worn away by hydraulic action and a plunge pool is formed and the soft rock continues to be worn away! The hard rock falls in the plunge pool and a gorge is formed

Q

Deltas

A

A delta is formed where the mouth of the river becomes choked by the sediment this causes the channel to split into hundreds of channels and they are called distributaries 😈

A

Generally more successful
Can cope with more
Drinking water

Increase property price

19

20
Q

What is Thalweg?!?!

A

The line of fastest flow!

21
Q

Solution?

A

Minerals are dissolved in the water and carried along in solution

22
Q

Suspension!?

A

Light material is carried along in water

23
Q

Saltation?

A

Small pebbles and stones are bounced along the river bed

24
Q

Traction?

A

Large boulders and rocks are rolled along the riverbed 🔁

25
Q

What are causes of floods😈

A

Snow melt
Heavy Rain
No barriers or protection placed
Deforestation
