socially constructed, breaking of the law, and a label given to certain behaviours prohibited by the law

A
the breaking of a norm, this is sometimes also a crime and sometimes just an expectation within society
all crime is deviant but not all deviance is criminal!

A
- crimes against a person
- crimes against property
- crimes against the state
- religious crimes, not needed for society

- social attitudes decide what is acceptable
- acts which were once labelled as criminal and deviant gain social acceptance and more liberal views lead to the removing of criminal label
