Q

What are away or home forces?

A

Instead of calling a backhand or forehand force, an away or home force can be called.

Although it will technically be a forehand or backhand force, “away” or “home force” is another way to think about it.

An away force is when the defensive player marking the player with the disc attempts to force them to throw away from the sideline with your team’s gear on it.

A home force attempts to force them to throw toward the sideline with your team’s gear on it.

Q

What does it mean to force middle?

A

When forcing middle, you are attempting to funnel throws made by the offensive toward the centre.

The position the player you are marking is on the field will determine where you should stand. Simply put, when marking the disc your back should face the closest sideline.

Other defensive players should be between their player and the middle of the field.

When your cut is unsuccessful, what should you do?

A

Avoid clogging space where another cut could be made. Continue your cut out of the open space and swing either a) back to your original position or b) into the space cleared by someone making another cut.
