Basic Tool Set
Oval tool (Option/6)
There are 3 tool modes; the active mode is highlighted in the Mode Bar.
Basic Tool Set
Arc Tool (3)
There are seven modes for drawing arcs. The active tool is highlighted in the Mode Bar. Arcs can have a fill patterns or color; and the arcs line can be any color (even invisible) or dash patterns.
Basic Tool Set
Freehand Tool (Option/5)
Drag the cursor to create a *polyline along the cursor path. The number of *vertices depends on the speed of the mouse and the curvature of the path drawn.
Basic Tool Set
Polyline Tool (5)
Polylines are a connected series of arcs, curves and lines treated as one entity. There are 6 modes for drawing polylines; the active mode is highlighted in the Mode Bar.
Basic Tool Set
2D Polygon Tool (8)
Creates 2D single line *polygons. Click at desired starting point and move to second point and click; continue to move and click at subsequent points; double-cllick to end.
Basic Tool Set
Double Line Polygon Tool (Option/8)
Creates double line polygons; there are 4 drawing option available in the Mode Bar. Click at desired starting point and move mouse to second point and click; continue for subsequent point; double-click to end.
basic tool set
Regulare Polygon Tool (Shift/Option/R)
Determines how a polygon is drawn. Right to left; options are: *inscribed, *circumscribed and edge specified.
Basic Tool Set
Spiral Tool (Shift/Option/S)
Click to insert a spiral. Click on the preferences button on the Mode Bar to set the parameters or do so on the object info palette after placing the object on the drawing.
Basic Tool Set
Eyedropper Tool (Shift/E)
Click on an object from which to copy attributes, then click on the object you wish to apply the copied attributes. To clear the eyedropper of the current attributes click on the drawing.
Basic Tool Set
Attribute Mapping Tool (Option/A)
Use this tool to edit position, size and angle, of *hatch, *tile, *gradient and image fills. Also use this tool to edit the properties of an objects *texture mapping.
Basic Tool Set
Reshape Tool (-)
Allows for addition, subtraction and movement of the vertices (A vertex (plural: vertices) is where two or more lines, curves, or edges meet and intersect) of 2D and 3D objects.
Basic Tool Set
Rotate Tool (Option/=)
Select objects for rotation. Drag a line from the *fulcrum you want for the rotation point. Move the mouse to rotate object(s); click to complete rotation.
Basic Tool Set
Mirror Tool (=)
Place a mirror image of selected object(s). There are 2 mirror modes; the active mode is highlighted in the Mode Bar.
Basic Tool Set
Split Tool (L)
This tool splits 2D or 3D objects at a point or along a cutting line.
Basic Tool Set
Connection/Combine Tool (Option/L)
This tool connects two 2D or 3D objects or combines them into an single object.
Basic Tool Set
Trim Tool (Shift/Option/L)
It cuts off a portion of an object so that it ends at the selected cutting objects. This object must insersect the cutting objects. LInes, arcs, rectangles, polylines, ovals and polygons can be trimmed or selected as cutting objects. Straight walls can be trimmed against other straight wall.
Basic Tool Set
Fiillet TooL (7)
Draws **fillet’s between objects. There are 3 fillet modes: the active mode is highlighted in the Mode Bar.
In Vectorworks, the Fillet tool is used to create rounded corners or edges between two intersecting objects, such as lines, arcs, or polylines. It allows you to smooth out sharp angles by specifying a radius for the curve that will replace the corner.
Basic Tool Set
Chamfer Tool (Option/7)
Places a line between 2 linear objects at a specified distance from their intersection. There are 4 **chamfer modes: the active tool is highlighted in the Mode Bar.
Basic Tool Set
Offset Tool (Shift –)
This tool creates a parallel object at distance from a selected object. This tool is used on lines, arcs, rectangles, polylines, ovals, polygons, walls and round walls. it was two modes, offset by distance and offset to a point.
Basic Tool Set
Clip Tool (Option/C)
Cuts through an object with a marquee (in Vectorworks, a marquee refers to a selection method used to choose multiple objects simultaneously. It essentially creates a temporary “box” around the objects you want to select). There are 3 clip modes; the active mode is highlighted in the Mode Bar.
Basic Tool Set
Move By Points Tool (Shift/M)
This tool moves or distributes objects according to the specified points.
(The Move By Points Tool in Vectorworks is a versatile tool that allows you to move, duplicate, and distribute objects based on specific clicks. Here’s a breakdown of its functionalities:
Basic Functionality:
Moving Objects: You can use the Move By Points Tool to move an object from one location to another by clicking on two points:
The first click defines the starting point (reference point) for the movement.
The second click defines the ending point where you want to place the object.
The object is then moved along the vector created by these two clicks.)
Basic Tool Set
Texture Tool (Shift/7)
Click to apply texture to a 3d Object or to a face of 3d object.
