Basic Science Process Skills Flashcards
Tend to observe hat happened. Uses the 5 senses.
Observation
What are the 2 kinds of observations?
- Qualitative observations
- Quantitative observations
Describing the characteristics.
Qualitative observations
Giving the amounts, numbers or measurements
Quantitative observations
Deriving additional information from observations by relating them to experiences or by reasoning out logically. Educated guess
Making inferences
When we use our senses in our surroundings, we usually asked questions based on what we observed.
Raising questions
For scientists to study them easily, they need to group then accordingly by observing their similarities and differences.
Comparing and classifying
Scientists and aspiring scientists performed activities inside a laboratory to test and verify observations.
Manipulating equipment
You measure or estimate how much
Measuring and estimating
Information gathered from observations, doing experiments and measurements from standard and non-standard instruments are considered data. Theses data can be recorded, organized and interpreted.
Collecting and interpreting data
The skill of anticipating the possible outcome or results f things and events based on previous experiences.
Predicting
Results of the study can be communicated through presenting one’s stud in science fairs, in research congress and even in sharing it with your acquaintances and friends.
Communicating
