Helps us predict water quality: how much time to disinfect water, how big a reactor needs to be to treat waste.

What is the rate of reaction?
A
It is the change in something (S) over time and the plus or minus disguises if something is appearing or disappearing. E.g. r = +-dS/dt. where ris the rate (substrate per unit time) and Substrate (mass or biomass).
