What must every prescription have?

A
  • Legible
  • Unambiguous (not range of doses)
  • An approved (generic) name
  • In capitals
  • Signed
  • If drug is “as required” must state the indication and maximum frequency or total dose in 24 hours
  • For antibiotics - indication with a stop/review date
  • Include duration if the treatment is not long term or if it is in a GP setting (e.g. 28 days)
