Assess for danger and only approach if its safe to do so
Response
Speak loudly and ask a simple question like can you hear me? Tap on their shoulders
Shout
Shout for help from anyone nearby
Airway
Perform a head tilt and chin lift to open the airway and remove and objects that are obstructing the airway
Breathing
Place side of face next to mouth to check if the patient is breathing
CPR
Baby (0-1)- 5 rescue breaths, 15 chest compressions to 2 rescue breaths with two fingers or thumbs 4cm depth
Child (1-18)- 5 rescue breaths, 15 chest compressions to 2 rescue breaths with palm of hand 5cm depth
Adult (over18)- 30 chest compressions at 100bpm to 5-6cm to 2 rescue breaths where the nose is pinched
Recovery position
- remove hazards
- move arm closest to you at a 90 degree angle with the palm up
- move the other hand to the side of their face
- bend the leg furthest away from you
- roll them towards you
Choking
- ask if they are choking
- perform 5 back blows and 5 abdominal thrusts
